Built-ID Movie Night

With everybody at home, it’s likely that you’ve found yourself bingeing on TV show after TV show and are constantly on the hunt for new movies to watch! Here are some movie recommendations from the Built-ID team.

Emily: My movie is Miss Congeniality because it’s a feel good film and I will need the same makeover she gets when I leave quarantine.

Dominic: Performance. Captures fading rockstar, drug madness of late 60s London mixed with gangster scrapes. Amazing soundtrack, and debut of the greatest director of time (IMO), Nic Roeg (who shot this; he went on to direct later). Plus Mick Jagger looks amazing in it.

Freddie: Seabiscuit- a timely classic. A story of defying the odds to become a champion, providing a symbol of hope during dark times.

TP: My film recommendation is the 2011 French film, The Intouchables.

Mishti: I love Amélie, AKA Le Fabuleux Destin d’Amélie Poulain. It’s light-hearted, quirky and every scene is an art piece.

Benai: I watched Parasite last week and loved it! A group of eccentric characters and ludicrous series of events- kept me on edge!

Savannah: The Intouchables. It’s a French comedy which is honestly one of my favourite films of all time. Amazing soundtrack, acting & script.

Lauren: Into the Wild! I chose this movie as I’m a sucer for a good adventure storyline and in a time like this, it provides a great sense of escapism! The main character also travels solo so the insight it provides into isolation is great to watch right now. Give it a watch if you want to be transported from your cramped flat to the wide plains of America and be taken on a story of self-discovery and adventure!

Henry: So hard to say but I recently loved Peanut Butter Falcon. The adventure story set in South Carolina was an amazing escape from COVID-19 realities.

Time to break out the popcorn!
